What Greg Slaughter needs

Junemar vs Greg that is the talk of the town after the PBA 2013 rookie draft. Well I can't blame the people why the're comparing the two Giants because first they are the 1st overall pick in their perspective batch and second they are the 2 biggest man in the PBA today.

But lately Junemar's been winning the argument of the people because of his great performance during the late Governor's Cup and people saying that Junemar is way better than Slaughter. Well I guess right now I can also say that Junemar is more dominant than Slaughter but here are some things that Greg Slaughter needs to strengthen up and rise to the challenge of the doubters.

First: He need a Post-up mentor. No wonder why Junemar became so dominant because he has a mentor and that is Danny Ildefonso or also known as "lakay Danny I'. Danny I is known for his dominant in his position way back and now because of his old age and the team's heavy roster he is now getting limited minutes, so instead of training himself only he trains with Junemar so that he could teach the Incoming Sophomore some of his moves back then. See what happens? Junemar instantly went to the spotlight after that Beautiful Conference he had. So I guess Greg also needs a "Danny Ildefonso" like in the team.. How about reactivating Erik Menk? or Hire a coach who is good in developing Post up players.

Second: He need to improve his footwork. How can you be good in the post if you have a bad footwork? I'm not saying that I have greater footwork than Greg I'm just saying is that he should work more on that. On the video I've watched (Ginebra's Tune-up Game vs. Rain or Shine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2fp8AgeKD0) I saw how Greg moves and I can see that he's having a problem on his footwork once he got the ball, he can't post up a player because of it.

Third: He needs to improve his athleticism. Ginebra is known for it's run and gun system and in that system you really need to be fast and the pacing must be good. For Greg he needs the speed because many people still compare his speed and junemar's and saying that Junemar is way faster that Greg. In order to perfectly adjust to the run and gun system he needs to improve his speed, and by improving his speed I know one thing for sure when Ginebra runs, everyone will be bothered because even the big guys can run. Imagine when all of you can run? Another Championship for sure

Fourth: Improving his hook shots. Imagine if Greg can post up any player and also have a Great Hookshot? he will be a beast inside the paint. once you can't get near to the rim you have another option which is the hookshot and might turn out to be effective. improve on his hookshot and He'll be fine in the paint even though he can't get in the rim (But still he needs a post up mentor)

Fifth: Rebounding. I know I know he's a 7-footer and rebounding is going to be easy for him. but still he still needs to improve that because in the PBA everyone will plan ways to stop you from rebounding. He needs to learn on how to adjust on the defensive/offensive end so that he'll easy get defensive or offensive rebounds. When the rebounder is good then his team can start to run

Well that's all of my tips or observation on what Greg Slaughter needs but hey I'm no expert so I guess it's up to them on how they train slaughter. But I believe that one day he'll be one of the dominant Centers in the PBA
