Anybody Heard of GlobalPort?

I guess not if you're not a PBA fan but for people who always watch the PBA they know what GlobalPort is owned by Mikee Romero which is known for his love and addiction on basketball

So I will give you a brief detail about GlobalPort Batang Pier and why would this team would be a real deal in the future

When the Coca-Cola began to sell their franchise (which is the Powerade Tigers) Mikee Romero bought the franchise and made a team on his own and called it GlobalPort Batang Pier.

So the GlobalPort joined the teams in the PBA and the roster of the old Powerade team, was still retained but except for some coaching staffs.

The first conference (Philippine Cup) of the GlobalPort was a nightmare, they went 1-13 record.
The Second Conference (Commissioners Cup) Coach Glenn Capacio was moved as assistant coach and the new acquisition (From Barako Bull) Coach Junel Baculi became the head coach right away. Also this is the Acquisition of Japeth Aguilar for Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Sol Mercado alongside Kelly Nabong, Jaypee Belencion and Yousif Aljamal (From Meralco Bolts) for Rey Guevarra, Vic Manuel and Josh Vanlandingham and Willie Miller

and by that, the MMDA tandem was formed..

MMDA means
M - Miller
M - Mercado
D - David
A - Aguilar

Many were hyped on the tandem and many expected that the Tandem would wreak havoc in the league which will elevate the chances of Global port entering the playoffs or even the finals.

but that wasn't the case, this so called "MMDA tandem" became a fail tandem for the GlobalPort, they aren't jiving with each other; Miller wasn't getting the minutes he wants, David starting to misfire, Aguilar is not comfortable with the 5 spot and Mercado is having a hard time on adjusting on his teammates.

So with the expectations and hype were failed, the GlobalPort ended up with a 2-12 standing and didn't even made it in the playoffs.

after the long hiatus of the PBA because of the league is making way for the Fiba Asia Championship that will be held here in the Philippines. The Global Port made some changes again.

They traded Japeth Aguilar for 2 2013 1st round picks and Yousef Taha.
Also they've acquired Jay Washington and let go of their 2016 and 2017 2nd round pick with Jason Deutchmann

So again the hype was back for GlobalPort for they expect that the new acquisitions will be a big help on their ramp on the Governor's Cup.

Sadly they got eliminated in the playoffs run and ended their season with a 4-5 standing which is the positive note for the team

And the thing that shocked a lot of PBA fans was the trade of David in meralco for Chris Ross and 2016 and 2017 2nd round picks.

And the 2012-2013 season has ended.

Then the rebuilding continues for the 2014 Season

First they got 2  1st round picks from barako (so make it 3 1st round pick) which they got Nico Salva, Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia in that 1st round. then Acquired Justin Chua via The trade of SMC to acquire Isaac Holstein and JR Cawaling.

So after the Acquisition of Nico Salva and Terrence Romeo, The GlobalPort has been transformed into "BrobalPort" by the netizen/fans (Because during the UAAP days Nico salva and Terrence Romeo had a confrontation in twitter which really caught the attention of the netizens) and brought another hype.

Also the Head coach Junel baculi Left the coaching staff of GlobalPort and left an open space for the Head Coach. So while Global port is finding a new head coach, coach Richie Ticzon was appointed as the interim of Global Port for the Philippine cup.

At the first 2 games of Global Port they won because of the help of their rookie Terrence Romeo who was very hot all throughout the start of the conference but then held down in the latter part of the conference, Jay washington is bringing back his good ol' days scoring 15 PPG grabbing 10+ RPG while Sol mercado is being aggressive than ever and the other players are ok being the Role Player

So right now I can say that this GlobalPort team has a BIG future in the PBA. my fearless forecast is that in the next 2-3 years, this GlobalPort team will be a tough contender. So I would end this by saying, "GlobalPort is the real deal Bro!"

New sight for us Ginebra fans

Ginebra won! they are now 1-0 to start the season! now they are now 2-0! 3-0! 4-0! 4-1.. 5-1! and 6-1! Wait there's something wrong? Ginebra is having a 6-1 record in the Philippine cup!? I never seen this kind of record for a long time (I really don't know when)

In the past we are always having a problem on big men because we are lacking of big men. Actually before the governor's cup Last season, Billy mamaril is the tallest member of the team
and then it happened..

Ginebra revamped their lineup..

First by acquiring Japeth aguilar (From GlobalPort) for Yousef Taha, Elmer Espiritu and a First round pick

they traded Rob labagala to Barako Bull for the 5'6 Eman Monfort

they got Greg Slaughter (1st Round pick) at the 2014 PBA Annual Draft pick

they traded Willie Wilson and Rico Maierhofer to barako bull for a 4th round pick which they used to choose James Forrester.

Then the Surprise trade between Kerby Raymundo for Jay-R reyes (From Meralco)

After they revamped the team, the fans expectations went high especially with the acquisition of Greg Slaughter, now Japeth won't be playing the 5 spot instead he will move to the 4 spot where he is Comfortable the most. Then they expect Monfort and Forrester to be a spark plug for the Ginebra bench. As for Jay-R reyes, at first fans were disappointed with the trade because why would Ginebra trade a Kerby Raymundo for some Jay-R reyes which is unknown in Meralco bolts?

But the expectation didn't fail. Greg slaughter Grabbing those rebounds, Japeth Aguilar is just being Japeth, Monfort and Forrester contributed in small ways And Jay-R suprised the fans byis showing his hustle on the court which the fans loved.

Ginebra cruised into a 4-winning streak but then defeated by a Hugnatan-less Meralco bolts but then again cruised into 2-winning streak after the loss.

To be honest I'm not used on seeing Ginebra in this standing but I'm happy that my or our expectations did not fail at least for now. But All I can hope is that we can still continue to show our prowess and hoping to get that chip' and end the title drought this season.
