Japan Vs. Gilas Pilipinas: A Nail Biting Game

Japan and the Philippines gave one of a nail-biter games I've ever watched. Luckily Philippines won the battle against Japan.

In the first Quarter Philippines got the lead because most of them showed Good defense and smooth offense. But in the Second Quarter the Japan slashed their way through that lead and led the Philippines by 10 - 13pts. because of their dagger 3's and the hustle of their big guy Sakurai. Japan is known for it's 3 point shooting and that was the main problem for the Philippines for they gave Japan too many outside shots. In other hand the Philippines had a struggle on their outside shooting and the paint, also their defense was off that's why Japan was able to take a lot of shot outside the perimeter. So after the 1st half the Japan lead the Philippines by up to 13pts.

In the 2nd half, Philippines need a huge run to get closer to the lead. eventually in the 3rd Qtr they were able to get close about 9 pts. after the 3rd Qtr. Now the 4th Qtr comes and Gilas slashes back in a huge run led by Marcus Douthit, Gabe Norwood, Gary David and Jeff chan. The Gilas made a 10 - 4 run against the Japanese until they grabbed the lead in about the last 2:00 minutes in the game. Gabe norwood, Marcus Douthit and Jeff chan had a crucial Freethrows in the last minute and seconds of the 4th Qtr Good thing they shot many Freethrows and grabbed a 2 possesion lead. The Japanese Hotshots wasn't able to shoot well in their last crucial minutes.

At last Philippines Crawled back and won against Japan and got a 4 - 0 advantage and they are tied with Iran and they both are battling for the 1st place in this Jones Cup.

Gilas Vs. Korea

Gilas (Philippines) and Korea had a game today in this 34th Season of the Jones Cup.

First it started smoothly for the Gilas and they led the Korea as much as 12pts in the 1st Quarter it's because of the coordinated defense and offense of the Gilas but in the 2nd Quarter the koreans made a huge run because they rely on their big mens and outside shooting. Gilas are also having a problem controlling the boards for they gave too many offensive rebounds in the 2nd Quarter. The 1st half ended in a 42 - 40 led by the gilas.

In the 2nd half Korea started hot and grabbed the lead by as much as 12pts. Gilas are having a problem with their defense and let Douthit sit at the 5:04 mark in the 3rd and let Gabe Norwood defend Patillo (One of the Big man of Korea). Gilas manage to tie the game because of offense even though with a small lineup and sunny thoss as their big guy. In the 4th Quarter the defense and offense of both team were tested and there are too many deadlocks in the game but in the last 2 minutes of the game, Gary David became hot and he shot two clutch shots that led the Gilas to a 80 - 79 win over the koreans

This win is a big win for the Philippines because in many years in the Jones Cup we haven't defeated the Koreans and this will boost our confident when it comes to international games. But this is not over for the Gilas, this is not a must win game, they still have so many big teams to beat but at least they showed that even though height is isn't our favor, we can still beat guys that are bigger than us.

If you want to support Gilas pilipinas this is the date for their next matches: Aug 22 5pm JAP| Aug 23 3pm LEB| Aug 24 3pm IRAN| Aug25  7pm Taipei Team A| Aug26 5pm USA|

Is Philippine basketball worth watching?

As time passes by PBA had a lot of issues, First is the controversial win of the BMEG Llamados in the Commissioners Cup and second is the Controversial Tweets of Don Allado Indicating that PBA games are Fixed. and with those issues some people are already thinking: Is PBA worth watching?

Yes PBA has so many issues and it's kinda boring to watch because these Questions stuck in our heads: "Is this game Fixed?" So people tend to watch the NBA than the PBA and also some people say that PBA is boring because of the plays and the players not unlike in the NBA they bring excitement with those clutch shots, those monster dunks, those sweet crossover, those amazing plays they bring.

PBA can also give those kinds of excitement but in a different way.. Our Colonial mentality is really with us Pinoys and we tend to support International BBall and Insult our local players with the some saying: "Hindi kaya ng mga pinoy ang US", "Hindi nila kakayanin sa FIBA kasi maliit sila","Panis nga si DonDon Hontiveros kay Kobe eh" In these Sayings I hear from other people it's hurting me a lot, Because to be honest I'm more of a PBA fan than a NBA or a european BBAll fan. Yes I live in a family with no cable and unable to watch the NBA unless there is a free telecast in the local channels. My point is let us not discriminate our own Basketball leagues and give support to them, what hurts the most is that we give more support on the international BBall.

Yes NBA is more different than PBA, but there is always room for improvements. We cannot deny that USA and other countries are better than us, but why with the insult with our local players? Why do we need to compare them with international Players? Can't we just give our support for them so that they could improve more?

That's what's wrong with some of us.. They tend to insult our own but they've never done anything to help them to improve. I hope even with all these issues surrounding the PBA people will support the Philippine basketball for one day they could be our nations pride. Let us also step aside the "Colonial mentality" and try to support or watch Philippine Bball games. We don't know in the future we might be one of the powerhouse in the basketball league.

Dreamers Vs The Believers (RoS vs. Bmeg Finals)

In this Governor's cup finals, we saw on how Rain or Shine and Bmeg plays.

But the Question is: Who will be the Champions? and who will be the Losers? It's a big Question for us here in the Governor's cup finals. But many Believe Bmeg will win this match because they are more experienced players because they already won a championship in the last conference. But also if there are Believers there are also the Dreamers. There are still people Dreaming that Rain or Shine will grab its first championship.

We cannot deny the fact that Bmeg is a more strong and experience team while the RoS is a small and under-experienced team in the PBA. Many people said that RoS will not get a chance to win in Bmeg in this Championships. But The Rain or Shine proved many people wrong, they showed them on how to play a inspired basketball. In Game 1,3,4 they took their win claiming a 3-1 lead and a another win can make their dreams come true to be a champions. But Bmeg did not go down without a fight, they fought back in Game 2,5,6 and ties the series into 3-3. They remained their composure even though things went wrong and showed their experience in every game, that's why they manage to tie the series.

This Sunday, it's a Death match between the Bmeg Llamados vs. Rain or Shine, whoever wins will be the next PBA: Governor's Cup Season 37th Champion.

Both teams want to prove something this season. The Bmeg wants a Back to Back Championship with their coach Tim Cone while the Rain or Shine wants to prove that even small teams in PBA can be Champions.

So are you with Bmeg who are Believing that they will win this Championships or are you with Rain or Shine who are Dreaming that they can get it's 1st Championship? So what are you waiting for watch PBA on AKTV this sunday on 6:30 pm
SAN KA? KAMPIHAN NA!
