Small talk: Coach siot vs The whole barangay

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel just had their 3rd lossing skid last sunday against the Petron Blaze Boosters and the fans became worried about their favorite team. most of them are blaming the coach of Ginebra; Coach Siot Tangquincen. I've read many comments bashing Coach Siot Especially when they are losing. Most of the comments I read is: "Palitan na ang coach!", "Hindi talaga aasenso ang Ginkings kung si Siot pa rin ang coach".

But didn't they know that Coach Siot steered Ginebra into 2 consecutive Championship last 2004-2005 conferences? Have they lost confidence to Coach Siot?

Yes we've given them many chances in the past conferences, but this doesn't mean we should bash Coach Siot whenever we lose. But why is it when we win we are all praises to the whole staff & Players of the Ginebra but when we lose we only blame Coach siot? Is it really Coach Siot's fault? Don't we tend to look at the players fault?

Yes it's very heartbreaking for our favorite team to lose but this can't give us a reason to bash any member of the team, If you're really a true "Ginking" then you will just have to support the team on everything they have. We can't always wish for a win, of course in basketball there is always one team who losses, no team manage to finish 1 conference without any losses.

Losing is part of every game, it's just how we fans accept it. Yes I do get frustrated when Ginebra lose but I don't blame Coach Siot or any player I'm just telling myself that they'll bounceback next game and win or lose I'll still support them. This also goes for all PBA fans.

If you want to watch the games of Ginebra tune in to PBA on AKTV on IBC13 4:00 pm - 8:00pm every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Air21 new season, new flight

If I say Air 21, many would say "That's the underdog in the PBA". But if you would ask me they're not anymore a underdog or a team to be taken granted. This season I can assure you that Air21 will be one of the teams in the PBA who can explode Big! As in really Big!

With the coming of the new rookies like Yousef Taha,Simon atkins and the coming of the veterans like Wynne Arboleda,KG Canaleta, Rob reyes,Noy Baclao and John Wilson They sure will bring a lot of firepower needed by Coach Franz Pumaren.

The start of the new season Air21 lost against the Barako Bull Energy Cola but it ended in with a 80-97 score. In their second game they won against the Global port Batang Pier with a 88-81 and in their third game they lost against Rain or Shine, A nail-biter game with a score of 99-98.

WIth these scores it shows that Air21 is not the same Air21 last season who are trailing a huge number of points by their opponents. With the Orchestration of Wynne Arboleda,With the 3-point shooting of RenRen ritualo and John wilson, With the inside presence of Rob Reyes,Noy Baclao and Yousef Taha, With the energy dunks brought by KG Canaleta, how could they be trailling in big numbers now?

Maybe Coach Franz Pumaren had already found the right combination for his team, and what I think they now only lack in chemistry because it's their first time working for one team (well maybe not for KG and John Wilson who were a former Ginebra San Miguel and also for Rob reyes and Noy Baclao Who were a former Petron Blaze Booster) but maybe once they got a right chemistry I'm sure they'll become explosive in the future and maybe one day they will fly again towards the championship like the Air21 in the past 2008 Fiesta Conference.

JunMar Fajardo scrutinized rookie this year?

Coming from being the 1st overall pick of the PBA this season. JunMar Fajardo sure brings up a spotlight of his own. Before the PBA draft begins many said that Fajardo will be a huge impact here in the PBA for he have the height of a center and the athleticism and skills of a basketball player. And by those reports, PBA fans became more excited for the upcoming season of the PBA.

During the off-season Fajardo did well on their games against other teams. Also Dorian Pena said that he can make it to the NBA. Many teams are also observing him for they said that he is a threat in the inside paint. So we can say that this JunMar "The Kraken" Fajardo will be a key weapon of the Petron Blaze Boosters in this season 38th of the PBA.

Petron had their First game against Rain or Shine Last wednesday. It is also the Debut of JunMar Fajardo on the PBA. on that game Petron lost their first game against the 'Physical' Rain or Shine. Also Fajardo got his first scar in the PBA brought by the rebound play where Fajardo were entangled between two Rain or shine players. After the game, Fajardo became the center of the attention for the fans and also for some media. Some of the fans say that he did not play well on his first game, He might be a letdown for his team and also the reports about him were wrong. But as Assistant Coach Rajko Toroman said "Fajardo can't learn all things overnight"

So whether you are impressed or not on his debut game, I'm sure in the future games he can show to his fans that he is worthy to be the number 1 over all pick of this season. Let us just wait, Coach Rajko is right A player cannot learn all things at one night, He needs more time to build a chemistry to himself and to his team. For me JunMar "The Kraken" Fajardo will sure be the most scrutinized Rookie this 38th season of the PBA.

Japan Vs. Gilas Pilipinas: A Nail Biting Game

Japan and the Philippines gave one of a nail-biter games I've ever watched. Luckily Philippines won the battle against Japan.

In the first Quarter Philippines got the lead because most of them showed Good defense and smooth offense. But in the Second Quarter the Japan slashed their way through that lead and led the Philippines by 10 - 13pts. because of their dagger 3's and the hustle of their big guy Sakurai. Japan is known for it's 3 point shooting and that was the main problem for the Philippines for they gave Japan too many outside shots. In other hand the Philippines had a struggle on their outside shooting and the paint, also their defense was off that's why Japan was able to take a lot of shot outside the perimeter. So after the 1st half the Japan lead the Philippines by up to 13pts.

In the 2nd half, Philippines need a huge run to get closer to the lead. eventually in the 3rd Qtr they were able to get close about 9 pts. after the 3rd Qtr. Now the 4th Qtr comes and Gilas slashes back in a huge run led by Marcus Douthit, Gabe Norwood, Gary David and Jeff chan. The Gilas made a 10 - 4 run against the Japanese until they grabbed the lead in about the last 2:00 minutes in the game. Gabe norwood, Marcus Douthit and Jeff chan had a crucial Freethrows in the last minute and seconds of the 4th Qtr Good thing they shot many Freethrows and grabbed a 2 possesion lead. The Japanese Hotshots wasn't able to shoot well in their last crucial minutes.

At last Philippines Crawled back and won against Japan and got a 4 - 0 advantage and they are tied with Iran and they both are battling for the 1st place in this Jones Cup.

If you want to support Smart Gilas Watch them on AKTV on IBC13
Here are the schedules of their next games: Aug 23 3pm LEB| Aug 24 3pm IRAN| Aug25  7pm Taipei Team A| Aug26 5pm USA|

Gilas Vs. Korea

Gilas (Philippines) and Korea had a game today in this 34th Season of the Jones Cup.

First it started smoothly for the Gilas and they led the Korea as much as 12pts in the 1st Quarter it's because of the coordinated defense and offense of the Gilas but in the 2nd Quarter the koreans made a huge run because they rely on their big mens and outside shooting. Gilas are also having a problem controlling the boards for they gave too many offensive rebounds in the 2nd Quarter. The 1st half ended in a 42 - 40 led by the gilas.

In the 2nd half Korea started hot and grabbed the lead by as much as 12pts. Gilas are having a problem with their defense and let Douthit sit at the 5:04 mark in the 3rd and let Gabe Norwood defend Patillo (One of the Big man of Korea). Gilas manage to tie the game because of offense even though with a small lineup and sunny thoss as their big guy. In the 4th Quarter the defense and offense of both team were tested and there are too many deadlocks in the game but in the last 2 minutes of the game, Gary David became hot and he shot two clutch shots that led the Gilas to a 80 - 79 win over the koreans

This win is a big win for the Philippines because in many years in the Jones Cup we haven't defeated the Koreans and this will boost our confident when it comes to international games. But this is not over for the Gilas, this is not a must win game, they still have so many big teams to beat but at least they showed that even though height is isn't our favor, we can still beat guys that are bigger than us.

If you want to support Gilas pilipinas this is the date for their next matches: Aug 22 5pm JAP| Aug 23 3pm LEB| Aug 24 3pm IRAN| Aug25  7pm Taipei Team A| Aug26 5pm USA|

Is Philippine basketball worth watching?

As time passes by PBA had a lot of issues, First is the controversial win of the BMEG Llamados in the Commissioners Cup and second is the Controversial Tweets of Don Allado Indicating that PBA games are Fixed. and with those issues some people are already thinking: Is PBA worth watching?

Yes PBA has so many issues and it's kinda boring to watch because these Questions stuck in our heads: "Is this game Fixed?" So people tend to watch the NBA than the PBA and also some people say that PBA is boring because of the plays and the players not unlike in the NBA they bring excitement with those clutch shots, those monster dunks, those sweet crossover, those amazing plays they bring.

PBA can also give those kinds of excitement but in a different way.. Our Colonial mentality is really with us Pinoys and we tend to support International BBall and Insult our local players with the some saying: "Hindi kaya ng mga pinoy ang US", "Hindi nila kakayanin sa FIBA kasi maliit sila","Panis nga si DonDon Hontiveros kay Kobe eh" In these Sayings I hear from other people it's hurting me a lot, Because to be honest I'm more of a PBA fan than a NBA or a european BBAll fan. Yes I live in a family with no cable and unable to watch the NBA unless there is a free telecast in the local channels. My point is let us not discriminate our own Basketball leagues and give support to them, what hurts the most is that we give more support on the international BBall.

Yes NBA is more different than PBA, but there is always room for improvements. We cannot deny that USA and other countries are better than us, but why with the insult with our local players? Why do we need to compare them with international Players? Can't we just give our support for them so that they could improve more?

That's what's wrong with some of us.. They tend to insult our own but they've never done anything to help them to improve. I hope even with all these issues surrounding the PBA people will support the Philippine basketball for one day they could be our nations pride. Let us also step aside the "Colonial mentality" and try to support or watch Philippine Bball games. We don't know in the future we might be one of the powerhouse in the basketball league.

Dreamers Vs The Believers (RoS vs. Bmeg Finals)

In this Governor's cup finals, we saw on how Rain or Shine and Bmeg plays.

But the Question is: Who will be the Champions? and who will be the Losers? It's a big Question for us here in the Governor's cup finals. But many Believe Bmeg will win this match because they are more experienced players because they already won a championship in the last conference. But also if there are Believers there are also the Dreamers. There are still people Dreaming that Rain or Shine will grab its first championship.

We cannot deny the fact that Bmeg is a more strong and experience team while the RoS is a small and under-experienced team in the PBA. Many people said that RoS will not get a chance to win in Bmeg in this Championships. But The Rain or Shine proved many people wrong, they showed them on how to play a inspired basketball. In Game 1,3,4 they took their win claiming a 3-1 lead and a another win can make their dreams come true to be a champions. But Bmeg did not go down without a fight, they fought back in Game 2,5,6 and ties the series into 3-3. They remained their composure even though things went wrong and showed their experience in every game, that's why they manage to tie the series.

This Sunday, it's a Death match between the Bmeg Llamados vs. Rain or Shine, whoever wins will be the next PBA: Governor's Cup Season 37th Champion.

Both teams want to prove something this season. The Bmeg wants a Back to Back Championship with their coach Tim Cone while the Rain or Shine wants to prove that even small teams in PBA can be Champions.

So are you with Bmeg who are Believing that they will win this Championships or are you with Rain or Shine who are Dreaming that they can get it's 1st Championship? So what are you waiting for watch PBA on AKTV this sunday on 6:30 pm

RoS (Rain or Shine) One step closer for their first PBA championship

Rain or shine will have one step closer on reaching the championship this Governor's Cup in the PBA. If they win their game against Bmeg Llamados Tomorrow night they will be the Governor's Cup Champions this PBA 37th season.

The Good thing about RoS for the Championship is that it's gonna be a history to the franchise because it's their first championship for their whole stint in the PBA. Also this Championship makes the PBA image a kinda good because they can now prove that even small teams can reach the finals or can be the next Champions.

RoS is a team with a dream, because they started as a small team in the PBA. Actually they were barely noticeable by the PBA fans, but now they shocked the whole PBA world that they can make it to the finals and beat big teams like Petron, Ginebra, Bmeg and Talk N' Text. But they were not able to make this run because of their team effort and heart of the game. Jameel Cornley is the perfect import for them because with him they were able to reach the finals. Also Paul Lee is a big addition in the lineup because he brings Energy to the team and provide them with a good plays

But also who could forget the cold blooded 3 pointers by Jeff chan, The monster dunks of Gabe Norwood, The Deadly "Extra Rice Inc." By Beau Belga and JR Quinahan known for their great defense, the energetic defense of Ryan Arana where you would get pissed because on how he defends you, the Brave Drives of Ronjay Buenafe who is not afraid to drive whoever the guard is.

Long story short, This team would not able to make it without TEAM EFFORT they played and listened to their coach Yeng Giao, they don't blame each other and also they played with heart and passion every game. So guys if you wanna know what will happen in the Game 5 of the PBA finals of the Governor's cup, Tune in on PBA on AKTV tomorrow 6:30 pm.

Petron: A team to watch out next season?

In around late September, the 38th season of the PBA will start and many are saying that Petron is the team to watch out next season.

Petron had a bad season this 37th season of the PBA for they haven't reached the finals in each conferences. In the Philippine cup on where they almost grab the Championship spot but they were defeated by a 0-2 win by the Talk N' Text Tropang texters, While in the Commissioner Cup they haven't even reached the playoffs because of a bad standing, and in the Governors Cup they were eliminated because of the ranking system in the semis.

But many still believe that Petron is a team to watch out this upcoming 38th season. Many say Petron wants to retain it's title back and also Petron have so many star players like: Alex Cabagnot, Arwind Santos, Chris Lutz, Jay Washington, DonDon Hontiveros, Joseph Yeo and Marcio Lassiter who might play next season.

With that kind of lineup, Who can beat them? Unfortunately with that kind of lineup, it is really hard to beat. But as Coach Ato Agustin said "It's hard to manage a team with full of star players" "Some are having a hard time on accepting their roles". Coach Ato actually said that after their stint in the Governor's cup where they got eliminated in the semis. The Petron that time are having a good lineup, all of them are playing except for Marcio Lassiter who was injured for a broken arm. Now he's back and gonna play for the Petron Blaze Boosters. The Question is: Is Marcio the key of Petron in the 38th season?

That's a big question for us and only Marcio and the Petron knows the Answer. So Petron is really a team to watch out next season? Let's find out by watching PBA on AKTV this coming September

Not anymore a Kid but a King!

Wednesday night is a big night for the Barangay Ginebra Kings and the Talk N' Text Tropang texters.
The two teams face each other for the battle of the Finals Playoffs spot. The team who will win this game will advance, but the loser will go home and rest until the next season.

This will be a full pressure game because this both team have something to prove. Talk N' Text want to retain it's glory while the Barangay Ginebra Wants to prove that the "Never say die" Spirit is not gone. This Governor's cup is very important to these teams who made it until the very last.

The game is a very close game, no teams managed to get a double digit lead. The Highest lead is by 6 and it is taken by Ginebra but was erased by The Tropang Texters. The Araneta Center is Quiet not because of there are no people watching but because all of the people who were watching is very nervous. There were actually aroung 7-8 thousand fans who came to watch but you can see in their faces that they are nervous.

Ginebra was able to take most of the lead but it is always tied by the Tropang Texters. Bozeman and Caguioa had a huge start in the 1st half but in the 2nd half Paul Harris (TNT) is giving Ginebra a hard time to take a huge lead for he is keeping the Talk N' text alive in the ball game. But in the end it's not the strong start of Caguioa and Bozeman who led Ginebra to it's win but the determination and willingness of a man named Kerby Raymundo. Kerby leads the Ginebra in the 2nd half because of his defense and his scoring. But who could forget his dagger 3 pointer in the last minute of the game? Ginebra gained a huge momentum on that 3 point given by Kerby. Kerby only wants to prove the management that they will not have any regrets on getting him and yes he showed it not only this game but for their whole stint here in the Governor's Cup. Without his Post moves, Defense and rebounds Ginebra would have definetely lost this season earlier.

So all hands up for "The Kid" Kerby Raymundo for giving ginebra another chance this Governor's cup. They will face the B-meg Llamados this friday and whoever wins on Friday will definetely be on the finals against The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Defense eats Offense (A tale of the Manila Clasico)

Yesterday night, It was “Manila Clasico” inside the Smart Araneta Dome. Many fans came to watch this exciting and crucial game for both Barangay Ginebra Kings and the Bmeg Llamados.
So it starts smoothly for the both team, they have good defense and a good rebound. But the odds favored on the Bmeg Llamados, Their great defense turned into good offense in the middle of the 1st quarter and continued in the 2nd quarter. The kings manage to strike back some points to cut the lead and tie the game in the 3rd Quarter, but their effort wasn’t enough to withstand the storm brought to them by the Bmeg and lose with a 70-82 score
It was Marc Pingris who was featured to be the player of the game because of his aggressiveness and good defense that led him to a good offense.
But the main story here is about Mark “The Spark” Caguioa who only manages to get 3 points this game because of his 3/4 FT’s. This night is not the night for Caguioa for he shot 0/9 from the FG lane and 0/3 in the 3pt lane. Many said that Caguioa was able to get that kind of stat during their game yesterday because of the defense of the Bmeg Llamados Particularly on him. It was not easy for Mark Caguioa for he holds a big responsibility to the team being it’s top scorer. Coach Tim Cone gives Him Credit for that and thus told his players to Strictly defend him on this game. Mark wasn’t able to bring spark to the team because all of the attention is focused on him, he was not given a easy shot by the Llamados because they know that when he started to score, all the Ginebra players will be “Sparked” because of him. and that’s why Tim Cone puts a big responsibility to his player PJ “The Scoring Apostle” Simon to Strictly Guard Mark Caguioa. PJ simon did not let Coach Tim Cone Down and he defended Mark Caguioa very well or in the tagalog term “inasawa na niya”. anyway because of the defense of PJ simon, Mark Caguioa was forced to pass the ball to his teammates or take a hard shot. But even though Caguioa is not scoring for Ginebra, Bozeman, Raymundo and Helterbrand steps up for the Barangay Ginebra kings. But the effort of the three guys can’t match the Team Effort of the Bmeg Llamados Especially to their defense. Marc Pingris, Marquis Blakely, Yancy de Ocampo and Rafi Reavis became the Bmeg’s answer to win this game for their defensive effort that leads to a Good Offensive flow. In the end Bmeg won against the Barangay Ginebra Kings and now Ginebra will face a do or die game versus the Talk N’ Text Tropang texters this upcoming wednesday.
In Basketball, Defense play a major role, Because without it there is no offense, look at how Bmeg outdefended Ginebra, They have more offensive and defensive rebounds and blocks too. And as you can see Their Great Defense resulted them in victory in this “Manila Clasico” Series.
